Hi! I'm Alex — I grow products with data

From hypothesis
to release

Product Manager with a product analytics background

A Moscow-based Product Manager: I own the product end to end — from discovery to release. Right now I'm growing a large e-commerce project: web and native app. I validate hypotheses with A/B tests and make decisions based on data, not opinions.

Alex Surgaev — Product Manager

What I do

The full cycle — from finding the problem to shipping and measuring the impact:

Discovery

Run full-cycle discovery for new initiatives
Track metrics in ClickHouse: MAU, DAU, CR, RR, ARPPU, AOV, LTV
Design A/B tests in GrowthBook — from hypothesis and MDE to p-value, CI and lift
Automated competitor and feature monitoring with Playwright
Prioritize the backlog with RICE, ICE and MoSCoW

Delivery

Design mockups for new features in Photoshop and Figma, following the design system
Plan backend and frontend capacity across web and app
Set up event and conversion tracking in GTM and AppMetrica
Pull data myself with SQL (ClickHouse, PostgreSQL) and process it in Python
Partner with marketing on product campaigns

My toolkit

My everyday toolkit — the product, and the data that feeds it:

How I work

🎯

Data-driven decisions

To me, a product is not a list of features — it's validated decisions.

Hypothesis and metric first, then development, then measuring the impact. My analytics background means I count instead of guessing.

🧩

Complex things, simply told

What I enjoy most is untangling complex user journeys — finding patterns where nobody sees them.

And my superpower is explaining complex things in plain language — to the team, the CPO and the business, no jargon.

Education

Studied digital marketing, web analytics, and product analytics.

Always learning

Outside of work I build products myself — from ML experiments to AR apps.
  • I compete on Kaggle: feature engineering, cross-validation, model evaluation — keeping my skills sharp
  • Building an AR app for Apple Vision Pro — solo, from idea to working prototype
  • Speeding up product research with LLMs: MCP, agentic workflows, context engineering — Claude, Codex

My own e-commerce business

I'm not just a Product Manager — I also sell on marketplaces under my own brand, for over 5 years now. I run production myself, including compliance with Chestny ZNAK, Russia's mandatory product labeling.

Yandex Market, Ozon, Wildberries — I know the seller's kitchen from the inside: sourcing, product listings, ads, unit economics, sales analytics. So I see e-commerce from both sides: as the owner of an e-com product and as a seller on marketplaces.

On all three, I run sales, ads and analytics myself:

  • Yandex Market
  • Ozon
  • Wildberries
